Eastbourne Liberal Jewish Community
Rabbi Roberta Harris-Eckstein was ordained in July 2018.
Originally with a background in the Archaeology of the Bible Lands and many years of teaching Bible, Hebrew and Ancient Near Eastern History to adults and undergraduates, she spent some years as Carer for three family members. This left her with a deep ambition to care for the physical and spiritual needs of the elderly and to further their interests throughout our communities and so she began rabbinic training.
Currently she is part time rabbi of Eastbourne Liberal Jewish Community and is exploring the possibilities of working with several communities with the remit of caring for their older members. Ultimately she hopes to get care for the elderly of our communities onto the mainstream agenda of every Progressive community in the country.
