Ariel J Friedlander grew up in the UK, attending Wembley Liberal Synagogue and then Westminster Synagogue, congregations where her father was the rabbi. After a career as a sport and theatre photographer, she studied for the rabbinate at Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City, and was ordained in 1996.
Having served communities in the USA and Canada, Rabbi Ariel returned to the UK in 2009 and became the administrator at the Memorial Scrolls Trust. She also joined the team at Liberal Judaism, working with small congregations and as chaplain to LJ students on campus.
RabbI Ariel recently moved to Italy, and currently serves a community in Emilia Romagna.
