Liberal Judaism’s first ever fundraising concert has now raised £20,500 after three weeks of further donations and the completion of Liberal Judaism’s inaugural fundraising auction.
The event – which featured a performance by world renowned musicians David Dolan, Abigail Dolan and Thomas Carroll – raised £12,000 on the night.
A further £8,500 has been brought in since, including from a series of unique auction prizes. The most popular lots included vintage jewellery, a visit to the zoo with Rabbi Danny Rich and a week in a Cornwall cottage.
Many guests at the event signed up as Patrons or Friends of Liberal Judaism. The latter is a new scheme where people can commit to a monthly direct debit to suit their budget.
All money raised will go towards the future of Liberal Judaism – the home for your Jewish story.
Rabbi Charley Baginsky, Liberal Judaism’s director of strategy and partnerships, said: “We are so pleased that so many people have engaged with this new fundraising initiative. It makes such a difference to the work that we are able to do. I hope that other people will be inspired by these first steps and will consider joining us as friends. The idea that Liberal Judaism is the home for so many Jewish stories for people who have not found a place for their Judaism elsewhere seems to have really touched the hearts and minds of our members who see themselves in these stories.”
