First Shabbat for new LJS student rabbi this weekend

Student Rabbi Igor Zinkov will spend his first Shabbat as The Liberal Jewish Synagogue’s rabbinic intern this Friday and Saturday.

Igor, who is a fourth year rabbinic student at Leo Baeck College, will be working at the LJS until June 2018.

Originally from Chelyabinsk, Russia, Igor achieved a degree in engineering and worked in business before beginning his journey to the rabbinate with studies in Moscow and Jerusalem.

Igor has extensive experience in youth work in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine and has worked with organisations including Netzer, Birthright and the Jewish Agency. Last year, he worked as a rabbinic intern at Westminster Synagogue and also currently takes services for a Russian speaking group in London.

Igor’s first services at the LJS are Erev Shabbat (Friday October 13) at 6.45pm and on Shabbat morning (Saturday October 14) at 11.00 am.

The LJS will also be welcoming Rabbi Dr Michael Hilton, who recently retired from Kol Chai Synagogue in Hatch End.
