Want to engage in spirited dialogue and meaningful study, alongside other adult learners, giving a new appreciation of Judaism?
Then sign up for the new two year course from the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning in partnership with the Lyons Learning Project and Liberal Judaism.
The first half of the core year one course examines a wide variety of Jewish sources to discover the deeper meanings underlying Jewish holidays, lifecycle observances and practice. The second explores both ancient and modern sources in pursuit of answers to many of the major issues of Jewish thought and theology.
Year 2 then looks at the ethics of Jewish living and crossroads of Jewish history.
Participants can attend on Monday nights at The Montagu Centre, 21 Maple Street, London, W1T 4BE, or Wednesday nights at 33 Seymour Place, London, W1H 5AU. Participants should pick a preferred night, but can catch up on the other when required.
The term dates for the first year are 6 September to 11 December 2017 (Sukkot term), 3 January to 19 March 2018 (Pesach term) and 9 April to 13 June 2018 (Shavuot term). There are no classes during Jewish festivals.
The cost for the year, including 25 weeks of classes and printed course handbooks, is £350 for members of Liberal and other Progressive communities and £400 for non-members. Subsidies are available on request, as we are keen that everyone who wants to learn is able to.
