A team from South Bucks Jewish Community (SBJC) raised more than £4,500 for Cancer Research UK, by walking for 24 hours in this year’s UK Relay for Life in Aylesbury.
The SBJC Strollers team took it in turns to walk through sun and rain from midday on one day to the same time on the next. They also sold jewellery at their stall.
They have now raised £16,000 for Cancer Research over the last few years, choosing to take part after seeing friends and family members with cancer benefiting from recent advances in treatment.
Team captain, and Liberal Judaism officer, Amanda McFeeters said: “We love being part of Relay – the event combines good fun with the opportunity to celebrate and remember those we have lost.
“We are proud to be able to help in a small way and raise as much money as we can, so that future generations will benefit from today’s research.
“And we are pleased to have made friends with so many of the other teams. It’s been a pleasure to be involved – we’re already thinking about next year’s event”.
