22 November 2016
Rabbis Danny Rich and Leah Jordan led a staff team from Liberal Judaism’s head office, the Montagu Centre, in our movement’s first Mitzvah Day of 2016.
The team baked cakes and served tea to the older people, spending a lovely afternoon swapping stories at the Norton House care home in Westminster.
Rabbi Danny Rich, senior rabbi of Liberal Judaism, said: “There is no higher mitzvah than helping others. Whether spending a lovely afternoon at a care home, like we have, making welcome cards and wrapping presents for refugees, tidying a communal area or any one of the 1,000 fabulous projects happening over the next week – Mitzvah Day is truly something that the Jewish and faith communities are rightly proud of.”
Liberal Jewish communities and members all around the country will be doing a wide variety of Mitzvah Day projects on, and around, Sunday November 27.
If you are taking part, then please send a picture and report from your project to our LJ Today editor and PR consultant Simon Rothstein on Monday morning. Simon can be reached on ljtoday@liberaljudaism.org
