LJY-Netzer started the New Year with the incredible decision-making event, Veidah.
Veidah gives LJY’s galimot and bogrimot (members aged 16–25) the opportunity to discuss their values and bring about changes to the movement.
Participants took part in debates throughout the day and night, voting on motions and choosing educational topics and social action projects for the year ahead.
They selected an educational theme for 5785 of ‘Widening our Tent’ and a tikkun olam project for the year of ‘Food Insecurity’.
There was also the chance for participants to join a group discussion to process their feelings about the ongoing conflict in Israel/Gaza, facilitated by Rabbi Anna Wolfson, and to listen to a speaker from Yachad on the same topic.
In true LJY style, everyone also spent a lovely Shabbat together, featuring a shacharit service led by one of the rashim (leaders) and a Torah portion that inspired a Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat singalong.
