Dr Ed Kessler (pictured) – the Chair of the Path to Progressive Judaism Advisory Board – has released a new book that provides one of the most comprehensive ever insights into Jewish-Christian relations.

Together with Neil Wenborn, he has edited A Documentary History of Jewish-Christian Relations: From Antiquity to the Present Day.

It is the first complete attempt to gather up to 200 key primary documents, which shed light not only on the theological context, but also on the social, political, economic and other contexts, which are central to the relationships between our faiths.

Each of the selected documents is followed by a commentary and the volume is a systematic and authoritative single-volume work on the encounter between Jews and Christians.

Through this use of carefully chosen primary sources, the book will take the reader on a documentary journey through a mutually entangled and often difficult history – contributing to a better understanding between Jews and Christians today, as well as providing a starting point for further research.
