Many Liberal and Reform communities will be offering online services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – as they do throughout the year.
This allows as many people as possible to participate in communal life – including those who are elderly, unwell, disabled, housebound or simply too far away from their nearest synagogue or community.
This offering includes the services from the online community Abraham & Sarah’s Tent, whose High Holy Days will be led by Rabbi Daisy Bogod this year.
Rabbi Daisy – who was ordained by Leo Baeck College in July and is an ambulant wheelchair user – said: “What we’re offering is in addition to what communities are already doing. We want to provide another inclusive space for those who can’t access a physical building to engage in Jewish life or who are unable to find a place for themselves on the High Holy Days.”
Abraham & Sarah’s Tent, which was founded by Rabbi Judith Levitt and is supported by Liberal Judaism and the Movement for Reform Judaism, offers a wide range of services worldwide via the Internet.
Rabbi Judith and her team provide adult education, B’nei Mitzvah tutoring, pastoral care and more throughout the year. Notably, Rabbi Judith created a Prayer For Those Who Do Not Heal, which has been included in the Reform Judaism High Holy Days Machzor.
