Liberal Judaism president Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein represented the movement at The Archbishop of Canterbury’s interfaith reception last week.

Held in the gardens of Lambeth Palace, it was attended by representatives of all branches of Judaism, including Orthodox Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, and many other faiths.

Andrew said: “A major theme in Archbishop Welby’s speech was the need to combat antisemitism. There were presentations of three projects supported by Near Neighbours – an interfaith programme that is well worth looking up online – and one of them was by two senior pupils at a Jewish Day school.

“One of the most impressive aspects of the evening, showing how far multi-faith understanding has progressed, was the fact that the kosher food, of chicken or vegetable curry, matched in quality and presentation the food on the non-kosher table. A very welcome change from the usual ‘airline’ meals.”
