Join Liberal Judaism, The Movement for Reform Judaism and the Honeycomb Project on Sunday 11 June at Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue for Care Conference 2023 – a day of learning and skill building around the topic of well-being and care in our communities.
Our keynote speaker will be Barbara Altounyan, founder of Stories for Life, whose mission is to give everyone nearing the end of their life the opportunity to record their stories and memories on audio, leaving their voice as a treasured legacy for families and friends, free of charge. As well as offering this opportunity to LJ and MRJ members, Stories for Life would like to train ‘biographers’ in synagogues to record stories of fellow members, developing community connections and intergenerational relationships.
Other confirmed workshops will include:
- Bereavement care
- SEN inclusion with Gesher School
- Living with chronic health conditions with Jewish Care
- Setting up therapeutic groups
- Perinatal and postnatal depression
- Combating loneliness and isolation for older adults with Nightingale House
- Honeycomb 101 – a brief induction to the Honeycomb training which uses Jewish texts to understand care and support work
The day will end with a networking lunch and the opportunity to speak informally with our presenters about their work and how they can engage with your community.
The conference is open to all. Whether you are an experienced volunteer, new to care, thinking about volunteering or someone with an interest in one or more of these areas, there will be something for you.

We would like everyone who wishes to be able to attend. If the cost of the conference or travel from outside London is prohibitive, please email Eryn, e.london@liberaljudaism.
