Suffolk Liberal Jewish Community (SLJC) held their Chanukah Celebration in the Mayor’s Parlour in Ipswich Town Hall as guests of the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor John Cook.

It is now a tradition that, each year, the Mayor hosts this joyous gathering for SLJC members and guests from across the local community.

There was dancing, friendship and delicious food for all with music provided by the local Stefan Freedman group.

Attendees were invited to bring poetry and readings about the Chanukah and the winter festive season. Ann Chadwick, whose late sister Suzie came into the family from the Kindertransport, read her own new poem Mid-winter Light.

SLJC chair Beverley Levy warmly thanked Councillor Cook for this wonderful annual event on behalf of the people of Ipswich.
