Liberal Judaism CEO Rabbi Charley Baginsky attended the Munich Olympics 1972 Commemoration today, held outside the House of Commons.
The event remembered the 11 Israeli athletes and one German police officer killed by a Palestinian terrorist group at the Olympics 50 years ago.
Charley spoke to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer (pictured) and cross-bench peer Baroness (Tanni) Grey-Thompson on the importance of both this event and educating about history.
She said: “The history of what happened in Munich lives in our present. It is vital to take time to remember those who lost their lives in this horrific act of terrorism and ensure we continue to work towards inclusion, tolerance and cooperation in sport and the world as a whole.”
