Rwanda flight protests

Dr Edie Friedman
Executive Director, JCORE

Despite evidence from the UNHCR that the plans are unlawful, on Friday, the High Court rejected an injunction which would have blocked the first flight from the UK taking asylum seekers to Rwanda.

As it stands, eight people will be deported to Rwanda tomorrow.

On BBC Radio 4 yesterday morning, I highlighted how these plans are morally bankrupt, and are an appalling way to treat vulnerable people. You can listen to the piece here (from 36:22).

At this time, it is critical that our community continues to make its voice clear: even sending one person to Rwanda would be too many.

Here is how you can join the fight against this appalling policy:

1. Make your voice heard
Sign our communal letter, urging the Home Secretary to reconsider the Rwanda Plan, and cancel tomorrow’s flight.

2. Lobby your MP
Use our template letter and write to your MP to urge them to speak up against these cruel plans.

3. Join the demonstration
Show your opposition by joining the protest outside the Home Office in London, at 5.30pm this evening (Monday 13th June).
