As leaders of Liberal Judaism, we join all those who condemn the unprovoked attack by Russia on the democratic Republic of Ukraine.

Our hearts go out to all of the citizens of Ukraine and particularly the members of the many Progressive Jewish communities across the country.

Our thoughts and prayers are for them, that they can find places of safety and that diplomacy and good sense can prevail to bring an end to this conflict before it grows and affects the whole of Europe.

As we feel helpless to actively work for the end of conflict and the establishment of peace and stability, we urge our members to make donations that, at least, offer support to individuals in Ukraine devastated by this war and welcome refugees who manage to reach our shores and be prepared to offer accommodation.

Donations can be made via World Jewish Relief or the World Union for Progressive Judaism.

We also share with you this special prayer by our Rabbi Elli Tikvah Sarah.

Written by Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein (President of Liberal Judaism) and Rabbis Rebecca Birk and René Pfertzel (Co-Chairs of the Conference of Liberal Rabbis and Cantors)
