Liberal Judaism’s Rabbi Charley Baginsky will take part in a webinar entitled Dialogue & Debate: Faith Responses to COVID-19, hosted by Cumberland Lodge at 11am on Wednesday 20 May.

Cumberland Lodge is educational charity founded in 1947, in the aftermath of World War II, that empowers people, through dialogue and debate, to tackle the causes and effects of social division.

This will be the fourth webinar in the series and, like those before it, will be hosted by Cumberland Lodge’s programme director Dr Jan Jonathan-Bock. Charley will be joined on the panel by:

• Julie Siddiqi – Co-founder of The Big Iftar and the Nisa-Nashim Jewish Muslim Women’s Network
• Onkardeep Singh MBE – Founding Member of City Sikhs Network and Founder of Society and Me
• The Revd Lucy Winkett – Rector at St James’s Church Piccadilly, writer and broadcaster

Each panellist will explore the impact of the current pandemic on their own faith communities, and discuss some of the key challenges and opportunities posed by COVID-19.

Questions tackled will include whether the growth we have seen in virtual practice and observance of religion will persist beyond COVID-19, how to stop people being excluded by a ‘digital divide’ and whether festivals such as Ramadan, Passover and Easter lost some of their meaning this year.

Viewers can also submit their own question to the guest panellists, via the Q&A option on Zoom or by emailing them to egow@cumberlandlodge.ac.uk. The webinar will last around an hour.
