Liberal Judaism is offering a free hands-on training evening for all those who want to help us conceptualise and create a groundbreaking multi-media exhibition for our Lily’s Legacy project.
We are seeking to build a pioneering volunteer exhibition curator team for the project, which will detail the radical history and heritage of Liberal Judaism.
The professional training will take place on Thursday 27 February, from 6-9.30pm, at the Montagu Centre in central London.
It will cover the basics of curating heritage, writing for exhibitions and working with key messages and oral histories. It will focus primarily on community and faith heritage.
The workshop will be facilitated by Rabbi Dr Miri Lawrence. Miri is the rabbi at Reading Liberal Jewish Community, a Jewish educator and recently completed a PhD examining Judaism in the post-war suburban home (1945-1979). She has a range of experience in oral history, archival research and heritage/museum work.
Everyone is welcome to attend. No particular skills are required – just a passion for faith and community heritage and a commitment to be part of our Lily’s Legacy team for at least three hours a week until the end of May.
The final Lily’s Legacy exhibition will launch at the Liberal Judaism Biennial Weekend, which takes place on 22-24 May, before a launch reception at the Wiener Library in July.
Participation in the workshop is free and reasonable travel and other expenses will be paid.
