Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue (NPLS) will host a very special musical evening on Sunday 20 May, as American guitar duo Julie Patchouli and Bruce Hecksel bring their award-winning sound to the UK.
Tickets cost £17.50 and can be purchased from diana@stoneemail.co.uk or 01923 537225. The concert will benefit NPLS and the local Michael Sobell Hospice.
International touring duo Julie and Bruce – who are friends of NPLS members Diana and Phil Stone – have been performing for more than 20 years; recording 21 albums and playing in excess of 4,000 shows.
Playing in two genres, one as Patchouli, the other as Terra Guitarra, they have received multiple ‘Album of the Year’ nominations and song-writing awards.
A recent review raved: “Their soulful fusion of blazing Spanish and world guitar instrumentals, spine tingling vocal harmonies, and epic folk rock anthems are infused with a visible onstage chemistry. An extraordinary bond is immediately apparent as two guitars merge into one acoustic wall of sound and their innovative, percussive flat-picking and hybrid fingerstyle techniques leave even astute listeners wondering where the drummer is.”

Guitarist Bruce Hecksel is also a prolific painter with his own style ‘Terra Guitarra Art’, featuring landscapes created out of guitar shapes. There will also be an exhibition of his paintings at the Etz Chayim Gallery in NPLS from Monday 2 April to Sunday 20 May.
