Season 1 of the Progressive Judaism Education Hub ends this Thursday (20 March) at 7pm.

This special final session will see Rabbi Dr Helen Freeman examining the life and legacy of Reverend David Woolf Marks, Britain’s first non-Orthodox Jewish Minister who served West London Synagogue from 1840-1909.

Reverend David Woolf Marks (1811-1909) was the inaugural Senior Minister of the West London Synagogue, Britain’s first Reform/Progressive community.

During that time, he became known in civic society for his commitment to social justice and the need for the congregation to be involved in building a better world . He was also Professor of Hebrew at University College.

His innovative dedication sermon that set out his aims is preserved in the British Library and many of his principles still inspire us today.

This session will be lead by Rabbi Dr Helen Freeman, who is the current Co-Senior Rabbi of the West London Synagogue.
