Responsible to: Senior Rabbi
Liaise with: Clergy Team, Synagogue Team, Volunteers, External bodies
Hours: 15 hours per week
Job Purpose: To co-ordinate support to those members in need of support. To co-ordinate, develop and manage a team of volunteers delivering key services and support. To engage with members across the Community through the creation of effective support networks
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of coordinating a team of volunteers who can be proactive and creative in ensuring that we provide the appropriate level of support. With previous experience of community care, together with an understanding of the Jewish community and external support agencies e.g. Jewish Care and Social Services, you will recognise when and where to refer cases.
The successful person must be diplomatic, calm, able to show discretion and empathetic. You will also be responsible for recruiting, managing and developing a group of volunteer team leaders, who in turn will be managing their own teams.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are required, together with IT literacy to develop systems that provide a reliable and efficient service.
Our Community
A thriving community of over 850 families, Radlett Reform Synagogue is one of the largest synagogues within Reform Judaism. We are an egalitarian, inclusive, young and active Reform Jewish community, situated in South Hertfordshire.
Our Community Support Worker works with our clergy and volunteers, to support members of all ages who have diverse issues and needs such as new parents, the bereaved, or those suffering illness or hardship.
