York Liberal Jewish Community welcomed Mitzvah Day CEO Stuart Diamond for a special Shabbat celebrating Inter Faith Week.

YLJC Deputy Owen Power said: “It was wonderful getting to hear from Stuart, who spoke with great passion about the work of Mitzvah Day and how interfaith and social justice lies at the heart of everything they do – and have the chance to tell him about our own plans.”

The service also featured a talk from Owen on welcoming other faiths to the Board of Deputies of British Jews Jewish Living Experience – which he recently brought to Salford – and a fascinating d’var Torah by Rabbi Elisheva Salamo on new ways to consider the stories of Hagar and Ismael.
