Progressive Judaism leaders joined those from across the Jewish community, and beyond, taking part in Brew Monday – encouraging people to check-in with their friends, colleagues and loved ones at a notoriously difficult time of year.
The annual Samaritans initiative is brought to the faith world by Mitzvah Day. It seeks to give people the chance to connect with each other over a cuppa and reduce the stigma attached to mental health.
Progressive Judaism co-leads Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Rabbi Josh Levy said: “Sometimes we can get so caught up in work, family and just life in general that we forget the simple things like taking time to find out how those closest to us are really feeling.
“Brew Monday is the perfect example of what we should all try and do a little more regularly – grab our favourite drink, take a break and catch up with each other.”
Others putting on the kettle for Brew Monday included Leo Baeck College Principal Rabbi Dr Deborah Kahn-Harris.
She said: “In the midst of our all too often overstuffed, busy lives, taking a moment to have a cup of something with a friend allows us to connect and support each other.”
