Nottingham Liberal Synagogue (NLS) held a special Celebration of Volunteers Shabbat.

A morning service and kiddush served as one big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the functioning, development and growth of NLS.

Special recognition was given to “community elders” Danny Rubins, David Lipman, Colin Dean and Margaret Silk for their decades of lifetime service. All four of them (pictured with their certificates), and their families, have been involved in building the congregation from its early days almost 60 years ago.

The event was organised by NLS President Paula Scott, Rabbi Gii Zidkiyahu and Community Development Worker Wendy Prestney.

Wendy said: “It is amazing that over two thirds of our members contribute in some way to the running and growing of our amazing community – and that certainly needs to be celebrated!”
