Liberal Judaism’s series of Open House Shabbats continues this Saturday (17 December) at 11am with a very special service at Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue (BHPS).

BHPS will be celebrating the induction of Rabbi Gabriel Kanter-Webber (pictured) as the synagogue’s new permanent rabbi. The service will be co-led by Liberal Judaism CEO Rabbi Charley Baginsky, BHPS’s Rabbi Emeritus Elli Tikvah Sarah and Liberal Judaism Vice President Rabbi Danny Rich.

Founded in 1935, BHPS has long been a centre of inclusion and egalitarianism in the Jewish community. The synagogue building was beautifully renovated in 2015 and this will be a great opportunity for members and friends of Liberal Judaism to see it. The Shabbat service will be followed by a celebratory kiddush,

Everyone is welcome to attend, please just email susank@bhps-online.org. For those who cannot be there in person, you can watch live via YouTube here.

The Open House Shabbat initiative will see each Liberal Judaism congregation hold at least one Shabbat during the year, for which they will open their doors – whether in-person, online or both – to the rest of the Liberal Jewish world and beyond.
