Liberal Judaism’s series of Open House Shabbats continues this Saturday (15 October) at 11am with a celebratory service at Nottingham Liberal Synagogue (NLS).
This special morning will celebrate both Liberal Judaism’s 120th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the NLS building.
The service will be dedicated to those who had the vision to build the synagogue all those years ago and to those who will carry on building the community into the future. There will be a display of photos and documents related to the synagogue and its wonderful history.
Members and friends of Liberal Judaism are invited to attend in person or via Zoom (just email info@nottinghamliberalsynagogue.com to confirm attendance and/or receive the link). You can also watch live on YouTube here.
The Open House Shabbat initiative will see each Liberal Judaism congregation hold at least one Shabbat during the year, for which they will open their doors – whether in-person, online or both – to the rest of the Liberal Jewish world and beyond.
More about Nottingham Liberal Synagogue:
Nottingham Liberal Synagogue is a supportive and inclusive community sharing with and caring for our members throughout life’s journey.
For many of our members our community is a second home; welcoming and sociable, comfortable and comforting; a haven of peace, spirituality, friendship and joy.
We promote a modern Jewish life guided by the values and ideals of Liberal Judaism, encompassing all shades of practice and lifestyle; one which offers an open-minded approach to Judaism through education, practice and prayer. In so doing we encourage our members to grow in their Jewish knowledge and practice in ways which best suit them. We have a thriving cheder (Sunday school) attended regularly by over 40 children.
In the best Jewish tradition we embrace the intellectual and spiritual challenges of today and demonstrate our concerns for social and environmental justice through our attitudes and actions
