LJS Kristallnacht Commemoration

On the evening of Tuesday 9 November, from 7-8pm, you are invited to join The Liberal Jewish Synagogue (LJS) to mark the 25th anniversary of the dedication service for the LJS Shoah Memorial and commemorate the November Pogrom of 9 November 1938.

The event will take place in-person at the LJS and online via Zoom. You can register for either by clicking here.

Sir Anish Kapoor will be the evening’s very special guest speaker, introduced by LJS member Jeremy Lewison (former Director of Collections at Tate).

Sir Anish Kapoor is the artist commissioned by the LJS in the 1990s to create the extraordinarily moving sculpture in the front foyer of the building in memory of victims of the Shoah.

The main subject of his talk will be ‘how does an artist conceptualise and create the unimaginable?’ The evening will also include words and music, ending with the Memorial Prayer and Kaddish. Congregants will have the opportunity to spend time round the Shoah Memorial.

Please note that face coverings are a requirement for those attending in person.
