Liberal Judaism’s next online Community Briefing takes place tonight (Thursday 28 October) at 8pm and will focus on Mitzvah Day.

We are delighted to be joined by Mitzvah Day CEO Georgina Bye for the evening. Georgina is keen to hear all about your community’s plans for the UK’s biggest faith-based day of social action – as well as sharing her own ideas for the day and how you can get involved if you’re not already.

Mitzvah Day will take place on Sunday 21 November and is based around the theme of ‘This Mitzvah Day, Together’ – reuniting people after more than 20 months of restrictions and isolation.

Around 20 Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs and Peers attended a special launch event in the House of Commons on Monday organised by Mitzvah Day along with the Board of Deputies of British Jews and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on British Jews.

Together they helped to pack hygiene kits for the charity Comfort Cases UK, which provides backpacks filled with personal care items for young people entering the foster care system.

Georgina said: “We have deeply missed in-person events and so, as we launched Mitzvah Day 2021 in Parliament, we celebrated togetherness.

“It is clear that MPs from all political backgrounds and faiths are united around our need to come together to do social action in our local communities.

“I am excited to attend tonight’s Community Briefing and hear more about all the vital social action that Liberal Jewish communities do on Mitzvah Day, and all year round.”
