Rabbi Charley Baginsky is taking up a six-month secondment at Liberal Judaism from 1 April.

Charley had previously split her time between her role as Liberal Judaism’s director of strategy and partnerships and as the rabbi at South Bucks Jewish Community (SBJC).

The move strengthens Liberal Judaism’s Senior Management Team (SMT), which also includes operations director Shelley Shocolinsky-Dwyer, director of administration Alexandra Simonon and director of youth Becca Fetterman.

Liberal Judaism’s Board of National Officers has full confidence in the talented and experienced SMT to run the movement while the Board puts long-term plans in place to replace Rabbi Danny Rich, who steps down from his role as chief executive and senior rabbi on April 1. Further details about these arrangements will be circulated to communities shortly.

Rabbi Rachel Benjamin, who served South Bucks from 2006 to 2015, will return to the community to cover Charley’s period of absence.

SBJC chair Gerard Geneen said: “On behalf of everyone at SBJC I would like to wish Charley every success during the next six months in her secondment. At the same time, we offer a warm welcome to Rachel and are looking forward to having her back with us.”
