Learn to speak Hebrew at East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue

16 January 2020 – 19 Tevet 5780

Hebrew Ulpan course at ELELS

16 February 2020

Thinking of your resolutions for 2020? How about learning to speak Hebrew? This is the opportunity being offered by East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue. In a first for the region, the community – based in South Woodford – will be opening an Ulpan class running for 30 sessions throughout the year.

There is an assessment session on 22 January before classes themselves begin on 29 January (subject to minimum numbers registering). The interactive classes, which will be for beginners and those with a basic knowledge of Hebrew, will focus on speaking and practical skills, but will also include reading, writing and listening.

Sessions will be taught by an experienced native-speaking language teacher. They will take place on Wednesday nights from 7.30-9.30pm at the synagogue, which is very close to South Woodford Underground station on the Central Line.

The sessions are part of a network of ulpanim that have opened around the UK over the last few years sponsored by the WZO. There a special discounted price of just £150 for any members of Liberal Judaism.

For more information, please see the poster or contact Nick Young on community.development@elels.org.uk.
