30 April 2019
Liberal Judaism is proud to announce the full programme for this year’s Day of Celebration, which takes place at The Liberal Jewish Synagogue (LJS) on Sunday 23 June.
Our flagship event of 2019, the Day of Celebration will focus on the role of communities to support their members in a variety of different ways. We will look at how we can directly support individuals as well as how we empower our members to support others, in turn, inside and outside the synagogue walls.
Keynote speakers Dame Margaret Hodge and Jean Gaffin OBE will be in conversation about how communities help to build the fabric of society.
The programme also includes many of Liberal Judaism’s most senior rabbis, lay leaders and educators including Rabbis Danny Rich, Margaret Jacobi and Elana Dellal. They are joined on the programme by speakers from organisations including Jami: The Mental Health Service for the Jewish Community, the Jewish Volunteering Network and Citizens UK.
There are a number of tracks and sessions for delegates to choose from with topics ranging from carers, safeguarding and end of life care to volunteering, creativity and social responsibility. There’s even the chance to take an interactive social justice journey.
The event will also include a performance from the Day of Music, the announcement of the winner of our LAFTA short film competition and a full LJY-Netzer youth programme.
So come and celebrate current best practice, the Jewish textual basis for community relationships and the deeper questions around community responsibility vs state responsibility.
The Day of Celebration takes place on Sunday 23 June 2019 from 9:30am – 4:30pm at the LJS in St John’s Wood, London.
