The Alliance for Progressive Judaism joins religious and community leaders from across the spectrum, both in Israel and the Diaspora, in condemning Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s intention to govern with an extremist party.

Otzma Yehudit’s views are fundamentally opposed to Israel’s founding values, as well as our own Progressive Jewish ideals and beliefs.

Their ideology directly counters the founding principles of Israel’s Declaration of Independence, which commits to ‘complete equality of social and political rights to all… irrespective of religion, race or sex’.

Netanyahu’s embrace of Otzma Yehudit has the potential to legitimise their racist and hateful ideology.

We all have a moral duty to speak out against those who advocate the expulsion of Palestinians and Israeli Arabs and discrimination against LGBTQI+ people and Progressive Jews.
