Liberal and Reform Judaism safeguarding training

27 November 2018 – 19 Kislev 5779

27 November 2018

Liberal Judaism has made a renewed commitment to safeguarding and is working alongside Reform Judaism to offer training for trustees, employees and members of all our congregations.

Training events were held at the end of November and attended by representatives of The Liberal Jewish Synagogue, Ealing Liberal Synagogue, Bedfordshire Progressive Synagogue, Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue, Mosaic Liberal Synagogue and Wessex Liberal Jewish Community.

The training – which is designed to ensure best safeguarding practices for both adults and youth and includes a discussion of policy development and safeguarding strategy – received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

New online resources were also launched and are provided, via a secure Google Drive, to all those who have attended a training sessions.

The next training events are scheduled for February 2019. To ensure as many people as possible are able to take part, sessions are planned for Manchester, London and via Zoom for those who are unable to join in either location.

To find out more details, please email Becca Fetterman on becca@liberaljudaism.org.

The training fulfils a motion passed by Liberal Judaism Council which requires that all constituent members of Liberal Judaism:

1) Lodge at the Montagu Centre an approved policy or policies which is reviewed for update at least annually and which may be shared with other Liberal Judaism constituents.

2) Provide annually the Montagu Centre with the name and contact details of its designated safeguarding lead.

3) Send a trustee and a senior employee (where relevant) to a training session every three years.

If you require any more information on how to fulfil these requirements, please email Becca.
