Message from Rabbi Danny Rich, Liberal Judaism’s Senior Rabbi, on the attack in Pittsburgh:
It is with much sadness and horror that, as the peace of Shabbat was departing in London, I learned of the fatal attack by an individual gunman on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The thoughts of all members of the Liberal Judaism community are with the families of those who died (including police officers on duty) and the injured.
Liberal Judaism is committed to working for a world in which baseless hatred in all its manifestations no longer threatens the lives and well-being of Jews or members of any other community.
We re-affirm the hope expressed in the prophetic longing given in the words of Isaiah (11:9) for a time when ‘they will not hurt or destroy…’
