Members of Peterborough Liberal Jewish Community shared an iftar meal with local Muslims at the UKIM Masjid Khadijah Islamic Centre, as part of the Taste Ramadan initiative.
Di Nicholas, Vivienne Fleet and Johnny Richardson took part in the meal, which is eaten by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan – the religion’s month long period of fasting, prayer, reflection and good deeds. Taste Ramadan is a national project to let people of other faiths or none experience something of the meaning of the Muslim holy period.
Di said: “This was a fantastic experience and opportunity to learn all about the Muslim faith in good company and break the fast with delicious food provided by our friends at the mosque. Events such as this are vital in creating dialogue between our communities.”
