Members of Liberal Judaism are invited to attend two special Rainbow Pilgrims events during LGBT History Month 2018.
Rainbow Pilgrims: The Rites and Passages of LGBTQI Migrants in Britain is a ground-breaking oral history and archive project exploring the hidden history of LGBTQI+ migrant and travelling communities in the UK.
The Rainbow Pilgrims Conference will take place on Wednesday 14 February at Buckinghamshire New University’s High Wycombe Campus. The day will include panels, presentations, talks, exhibitions and artwork.
The conference aims to set a platform for dialogue across communities and to share experiences around issues of migration, identity and faith, in the UK and beyond.
Speakers will include Liberal Judaism’s Rabbi Aaron Goldstein, Stonewall’s Dominic Arnall, Leila Zadeh of the UK Lesbian & Gay Immigration Group and Pliny Soocoormanee of the Peter Tatchell Foundation
Light refreshments and a sandwich-style buffet lunch will be provided. A small number of (part) bursaries to cover UK travel are also available.
Tickets for the conference are FREE but must be booked in advance by clicking here. For travel bursary enquiries, please email rainbowpilgrims@liberaljudaism.org.
Liberal Judaism members are also invited to attend the launch of the Rainbow Pilgrims pop-up exhibition on Thursday 22 February at the Migration Museum in Lambeth.
The exhibition is open from 11am with the launch event taking place between 6pm and 9pm.
The event is FREE and there is no need to RSVP, just turn up and enjoy.
Rainbow Pilgrims: The Rites and Passages of LGBTQI Migrants is proudly hosted by Liberal Judaism and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
