Members of Liberal Judaism’s youth movement LJY-Netzer will run a marathon for charity on their annual Machaneh Kadimah summer camp.
Each child and leader will run (or walk) an equal part of the 26.2 miles during the much-loved Kadimah sports day.
All money raised will go towards LJY-Netzer’s Charity of the Year – Abraham’s Tent, the project that aims to turn part of South London Liberal Synagogue into a self-contained home for a refugee family.
Abraham’s Tent is currently more than halfway towards its target of £50,000, thanks to donations from the Jewish community and beyond, but needs more money in order to turn a former caretaker’s flat into the self-contained home.
LJY-Netzer movement worker Ellie Lawson said: “LJY-Netzer is dedicated to social action, as one of our pillars is tikkun olam (repairing the world), and voted for this Charity of the Year on our annual decision making event Veidah. We appreciate any contribution to this worthy cause, as we continue to support the refugees entering the UK.”
