Liberal Judaism is delighted to announce that Lord (Alf) Dubs will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Day of Celebration – held at Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue (NPLS) on Sunday June 11 from 9:30 to 16:30.
Lord Dubs, pictured here with Liberal Judaism vice president Rabbi Harry Jacobi, has been an incredible campaigner for the rights of child refugees.
Rabbi Rebecca Birk, chair of the Day of Celebration organising committee, said: “Lord Dubs, himself a Kindertransport child who escaped the Nazis, has been working side by side with Liberal rabbis and members, and Citizens UK, to support the rights of those fleeing terror and persecution today.
“With his Dubs Amendment – to allow 3,000 unaccompanied children into the UK – recently being reversed by the Government his, and our, fight is now more vital than ever. Lord Dubs will speak about the campaign and how it was inspired by his own experiences.”
The theme for this year’s Day of Celebration will be ‘Is Liberal Judaism Political Judaism?’
More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks from the worlds of Judaism and politics, and beyond.
Tickets are available now and can be purchased from https://doc2017.eventbrite.co.uk/
