Liberal Judaism’s Twilight People project manager, Surat-Shaan Knan (pictured), has been profiled by Attitude Magazine.

He featured in a lengthy article in the UK’s best-selling gay publication, looking at LGBTQI+ people of faith.

Speaking about coming out as trans, he told the magazine: “I’m very, very blessed because I’m a Liberal Jew, I’m a Progressive Jew and I’m part of the Liberal Jewish movement in the UK.

“When I came out it was very much supported – although I must say not many people had come out as trans before within our community – so it was more like ‘ok tell us what we need to do to make you feel fully included in our community.’

“It’s a learning process but at least there was and always has been a willingness to learn and not to exclude me.”
