Woodford Liberal Synagogue (WLS) has held its fourth Shabbat Shelanu, an inclusive Saturday morning service, accessible for people with learning disabilities and welcoming to all.
Led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi, Shabbat Shelanu services provide an opportunity to celebrate Shabbat in a relaxed and friendly environment, through music, multi-sensory experiences and prayer.
The latest service explored how we should expect to be treated by people in authority. Previous activities have focused on how we are each a blessing, the roles of advocates in our lives and the traditions of Pesach.
Zara Fryer, one of the organisers, said: “Our Shabbat Shelanu services are proving to be a unifying and enriching experience for all who attend. I would hope that in the future we can welcome many more new faces alongside our existing members and guests.”
The next Shabbat Shelanu will be held on Saturday October 22, taking place during Sukkot so that the symbols and meanings of the festival can be explored during the service.
All Liberal Jews, and non-members, are very welcome. Contact the WLS office on 020 8989 7619 or email zara@woodfordliberal.org.uk for further information.
